Born on a Karoo farm near Venterstad in the Eastern Cape, Theuns Jordaan's early life was rooted in the rustic beauty of South Africa. He attended Volkskool High School in Graaff-Reinet, where he began performing music at local venues such as the pizza restaurant/pub called Trail In. His passion for music grew alongside his academic pursuits, and while studying industrial psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, he had his first public performance on 21 October 1992 at a local bar named The Terrace.

After completing his studies, Jordaan spent a year as an entrepreneur before relocating to Pretoria in October 1998. His growing popularity in Pretoria paved the way for the recording of his debut album, Vreemde Stad, which was released in 2000 at the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees in Oudtshoorn. The album was a commercial success, surpassing triple platinum status by July 2003 with over 150,000 copies sold.


In 2002, Jordaan launched his second album, Tjailatyd, at the Aardklop music festival. This album also achieved significant success, selling more than 150,000 records. Notably, South African guitar player Anton L'Amour collaborated with Jordaan, providing all guitar tracks for both Vreemde Stad and Tjailatyd.

Jordaan was a private individual when it came to his personal life. It is known that he had a daughter born in 2009, a fact he discovered months after her birth. The mother of his daughter is a Namibian woman. Sadly, Theuns Jordaan was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2020 and passed away on 17 November 2021.
